What is Spare Ribs Club?
We’re a membership community exploring intersectional feminism through literature, art, music and food.
Spare Ribs Club, based in London, has over 300 members. We host regular events, book club meetings and supper clubs. Our events range from life drawing classes, to floristry workshops, to exhibition trips, often in collaboration with creators and brands.
Spare Ribs Club addresses the loneliness and isolation felt by many young women in London. Our intersectional feminist approach ensures that women of colour, LGBTQ+ individuals, and other marginalised groups are central to our mission. We provide free membership and free/low-cost events, making our resources accessible to all.
We also have a podcast, A Seat At The Table, and a newsletter.

Alexandra Holker
FOUNDER
Alexandra founded Spare Ribs Club in early 2022 after noticing a lack of accessible intellectual social spaces for young women. Graduating from university during COVID-19, she felt an absence of societies and clubs many of us take for granted at school and university.
Through conversations with peers, friends, and colleagues, many of whom are now part of our community, she discovered a shared longing for a supportive network that celebrates intersectional feminism through literature, art, and meaningful social interactions. These discussions highlighted a genuine need for a space where young women can connect authentically, explore feminist ideas, and forge lasting friendships.
Loneliness is a growing challenge for young people living in urban areas. Spare Ribs Club aims to combat this by creating a vibrant space where young women can form meaningful connections. Here, they build supportive friendships, empower each other, and expand their feminist horizons.
Alexandra runs the club alongside her day job in international humanitarian policy and diplomacy. She's originally from London and is passionate about building communities.
